Buffer, an app that automatically schedules sharing from a company’s
social media accounts was hacked on Saturday morning according to the company.
Hacking attack was first noticed when an undetermined number
of users began posting spammy weight-loss links to their Facebook and Twitter
pages.
We greatly apologize for this big mess we have created. Byffer
has been hacked, co founder Leo Widrich said in a Facebook post on Saturday
morning.
Joel Gascoigne, founder and CEO of the company posted the
news to his Twitter account on Saturday saying that all automatic posts have
been halted:
“Look like @buffer has
been hacked and there is a nasty scam being posted. We are pausing all posting
and investigating right now, sorry”
