It may look like the poor man’s Google Glass but don’t let
the iPhone strapped to the side of your head thing fool you, Neurocam and its
accompanying app may foretell the future of advertising.
Neurocam actually scan your brain and record your interests.
It’s a crazy iPhone based camera system that uses your brain waves to snap
photos.
A prototype of the camera was demonstrated the Human sensing
2013 conference in Japan last week. It basically looks like an iPhone strapped
to the side of your head. Brainwave sensors connected to your head attempt to
measure your interest in the things you look at based on how your brain
responds.
The entire system consists of a headset and EEG sensor that
helps to scan your brain. Neurocam works through an iPhone app that gives EEG
data a certain valuation from 1 to hundred. Whenever the data valuation reaches
the figure of 60, your interest will appear in the iPhone screen. iPhone
application then records the interests with the help of an iPhone camera, all
the recordings are shown in the format of a 5 sec GIF images that can also be
saved as an album.
As an application in a B2B environment Neurocam could
determine what goods in stores interest people. And because the information
includes position data, you can do mapping, so it could also show what places people
are interested in as an aid for urban development planning.
