As 4k televisions pick up speed in the consumer market and prices begin to drop, demand for 4k content is increasing, and it seems Netflix is aiming to be on the forefront.

The video service has been testing 4k video streaming and has recently added a hand ful of Ultra HD resolution videos to its catalog. If all goes as planned, netflix hopes to being providing Ultra HD resolution content in 2014.

4k video also known as Ultra HD, has  a horizontal resolution of 4,000 pixels which is well above HDTV’s 2k reolution.

Netflix’s launch of its first 4k videos delivers on a promise that the company made earlier this year, in March , chief products officer Neil Hunt told the verge,
“We expect to be delivering 4k within a year or two”

Netflix users now have an option for checking out streaming 4k videos on their television, if only in the form of test footage right now.

Kkep in mind that Netflix offers test footage that is not in 4k video, as well so make sure you picj the right resolution when checking out the quality otherwise you might be disappointed.
