Samsung’s Galaxy S6 can’t keep up with the iPhone

By With No comments:

How well is the Galaxy S6 selling for Samsung? Pretty well… but nowhere near as well as Apple’s iPhone 6. Counterpoint Research released new data on Tuesday suggesting that while the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge were together outselling last year’s Galaxy S5, they still trailed both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in monthly sales in April 2015… despite the fact that Apple’s newest iPhones had been out for more than six months at that point
There’s some encouraging news here for Samsung, however: Its Galaxy S6 edge proved to be a much bigger hit than anyone expected and Samsung’s device sales would have been higher if it had been able to produce enough S6 edge models to meet demand. In fact, Counterpoint says that the Galaxy S6 only sold “slightly” more than the S6 edge in April, despite the fact that Samsung had been expecting to sell significantly more Galaxy S6 units than Galaxy S6 edge units.
“We believe the Galaxy S6 Edge could have sold more if there weren’t supply issues, but it is on track to become more popular than the standard version as Samsung’s marketing engine kicks-in at full-speed,” says Counterpoint research director Neil Shah. “The curved glass is certainly going to be a challenge for production as it is the first of its kind and navigating unchartered waters, so managing the supply with shifts in demand between the two models will be the key to maintaining momentum.”
In all, Counterpoint expects Samsung’s flagship devices to hit sales of 50 million units by the end of the year.

Hackers created a drone that can steal What’s inside your phone

By With No comments:

At this point of time, most of smartphones are loaded with an important function that requires WiFi service to be activated. Taking advantage of this, Hackers of London have created a drone that is proficient in taking data consists of locations and passwords directly from your smartphone.
The drone uses a codename “Snoopy” that targets busy city streets and specific phones switched on while using the WiFi settings and it is also an advantage for the drone that it uses the common smartphone features and thus, it continuously searches for the networks that are already approved and accessed by a user.
The developer of Snoopy, Glenn Wilkinson said in a report of CNN that whenever users will connect their smartphones to Snoopy, they will be shouting and noisily. There shouting would be like this, are you there Starbucks? Are you there McDonald’s?
Onboard software of snoopy then tries to be a part of the networks that are approved and connects to more than one secured devices at a time, acting as different networks. After connecting to the quadcopter, Snoopy seizes each transmission sent or received by a phone.
After stopping the individual media access control address of a phone, Snoopy is capable of seeing and recording data of sensitive nature such as location, username, passwords or even information about credit card that is more often accessed by accounts or websites.
“I can have a look at all of your traffic after your phone connects to me, “said by Wilkinson.” I’ve gone through the situation where somebody is searching for ‘Bank X’ cooperate Wi-Fi. In this way, we can be informed that that the concerned person is working at the bank.”
While giving an interview to CNN, Snoopy revealed multiple users of smartphones about how they were attacked by the drone, and within the space of an hour gathered the sensitive information and real time GPS location of about 150 smartphones. It also collected their Yahoo, Amazon and PayPal accounts created for testing purpose.
Daniel Cuthbert and Wilkinson, both belong to SensePost Information security a London based company developed Snoopy, have a plan of presenting their achievements at the cybersecurity conference named as Black Hat Asia which to be held in Singapore at 25th March.
Like lots of other companies of information security, SensePost completed a test to show the weak points of the technology that we use on daily basis. It is an important research that is being considered as very helpful in preventing the attack of drones permission for the side of the user before entering into a network. It is needed that this function must certainly be switched on after the research of SensePost.

AQUOS Smartscreen for Smartphones

By With No comments:

Smartphones, as considered by many is a marking stone in the advancement of the technology, the current trends that we are witnessing. It has been ages since the idea of a smartphone was conceived and at that instance of time was considered nearly impossible. Now, we have witnessed enough to believe that nothing can be considered impossible to achieve because since then we have come a long way and have seen some of the most remarkable gadgets known to mankind. And still we thrive for perfection, in constructing new gadgets and enhancing the versions of devices that we own. To further take up the species of smartphones, up on a new level, Sharp’s AQUOS screen has been produced, to ensemble the entire smartphone into one single entity.

The impressive-looking Sharp Aquos Crystal was announced for Japan, and back then we heard that it would be headed to Sprint in the USA, because that particular carrier is now owned by Japan’s SoftBank. It’s sure been a long time since Sharp shipped a smartphone to American consumers but the company is hoping its AQUOS Crystal will have better fortunes. The almost bezel-less device offers high-end looks with decidedly mid-range internals. The 1.2GHz chip inside isn’t going to set land-speed records, but it should be enough for most folks. The most important feature, though, is the edge-to-edge 5-inch display. While Sharp’s description of it as a “groundbreaking” device might be a little over the top, we must admit it’s quite a stunning panel — especially for being five inches and only 720p. The Sharp Aquos Crystal will cost $239.99 at Sprint sans contract. On the other hand, both of Sprint’s prepaid brands will sell the handset too, at some point in the future. Virgin Mobile will have it in black, while Boost Mobile will offer the white version. In both cases, the device will be priced at $149.99.
fly_wht1_pos1_000

As you can see, the main feature of the Aquos Crystal is how compact it is, and especially how virtually inexistent three of its screen’s bezels seem to be. Otherwise, this is a mid-ranger through and through. It seems quite elusive with the promising features:  an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 1.2 MP front snapper for selfies, 8GB of expandable storage, and a 2,040 mAh battery. Running the elegant beast is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, aided by 1.5GB of RAM. The Aquos Crystal also has a Harman Kardon branded sound experience, and it runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, quite a package to take away.
display_img01

While we’ve seen plenty of devices before that claim to be free of bezel, the AQUOS Crystal comes the closest to actually fulfilling that claim. There’s only the tiniest sliver of silver around the edges. In fact, it felt much smaller in the hand than many 4.7-inch phones. Sharp’s expertise in building LCDs is obvious when you look at the phone. The screen is bright; the blacks are deep; colors are vibrant; and the viewing angles are solid. Really the only complaint is that the high-gloss coating produced a ton of reflection and glare in even moderately lit environments. But that is not a condition any one would find difficulty in compromising for.

How to Change Facebook Theme, Color and Appearance

By With No comments:

Facebook is a social networking site which enables people to connect with friends and people around. That’s how Facebook is usually introduced. However, Facebook is beyond the need of being introduced as almost everyone is on it. Despite its popularity, Facebook has one flaw; the default blue theme is really boring. Some even consider it an annoyance while visiting Facebook. As Facebook does not allow users to change its theme like MySpace used to, users are left with no other option but to bear the theme Facebook wants them to use.
However, it is relatively easy to change the Facebook theme to a stylish one using an addon and custom themes which are available free of cost on the internet. An example of the final outcome would be something like in the image:
Requirement: The basic requirement for this to work is to have Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as your browser.
Mozilla Firefox
Open Mozilla Firefox and install ‘Stylish’ addon.
Follow the basic steps to install the addon.
Restart Firefox after successfully installing the Stylish addon.
Login to your Facebook Account and click on the small ‘S’ button in your Firefox status bar.
Click on “Find Styles for this Site” to open a new tab with free themes to use for Facebook.
Click on any theme and a preview will be shown.
If everything is fine in the previewed theme, click on “Install with Stylish” button at the top right corner of the page.
A dialog box will open.
Click on Install in the dialog box.
Google Chrome:
Install Stylish for Chrome from the Chrome Web Store.
Navigate to Facebook.com and click on the S button.
Click on “Find Styles for this Site” to open a new tab with free themes to use for Facebook.
Click on any theme and a preview will be shown.
If everything is fine in the previewed theme, click on “Install with Stylish” button at the top right corner of the page.
Now whenever you open Facebook, it will show the theme that you have installed with Stylish instead of the boring old blue theme.
You can also change colour of google , youtube like websites with stylish

ONE- Pen Size Phone

By With No comments:

With the dawn of this century the world has witnessed a tremendous increase in the technological evolution of the mobile phones. We have moved on from bulky prototypes to compact and easy to carry cell phones. The modular designs have changed from dial pad to touchscreens. Even more advanced gadgets have hit the market like the notepads and tablets. And with these, have come new ideas, much more sophisticated one’s, that are not yet to be physically realized. These concept phones have given the world a new insight as to what is in store for us, what the future beholds. With Apple, Nokia and many other companies running neck to neck in this competition, it is obvious that Samsung could not hold itself back and it has presented the world its new brilliant idea of ONE- a pen size concept phone.
This might not be a problem for enthusiasts, that’s for sure, but it becomes a deal breaker for those users looking for a smaller form factor with similar capabilities inside. The design of the Samsung ONE is presented by Yejin Jeon on Yanko Design. Samsung One is so small that it could easily be mistaken for a pen. It is not larger than a pen, nor is it much heavier either. However, it is certainly lighter than a smartphone. The Samsung concept relies on cloud computing and involves a wide screen display that comes out of the pen. This screen is a 6 inch bendable sheet and at the edge of the pen we also have an embedded camera. You can make ONE stand in order to use the 6 inches of screen estate to their full extent. When the display is inside the pen there’s a small touchscreen on the side of the pen. This one allows you to control the device and has the role of showing notifications, signal, battery and more.
There’s a speaker at the edge of the device and a lock at the other. The brilliant thing about this device is that you can pull part of the flexible screen of the ONE and use it as a camera viewfinder when you turn the handset’s camera on, that’s very, very cool. I say that such a product is doable with today’s technology, but it could end up being much thicker. The display is ejected from the pen-like body like a scroll and the body holds a camera sensor near the top, a speaker opposite the image sensor and a micro USB port at the bottom. Along the side of the pen body, or what would be the top of the display pull-out, a smaller panel displays some notifications and other device status information, such as a battery meter, wireless signal meter, alarms and time. ONE is a very clever design. And it answers one of the growing issues with smartphones of late: pocket real estate. These were the features yet promised to us but we can honestly expect to get a little bit less than we hope. As up to this point it is inconceivable.

Facebook launches mobile app that does not require Facebook account: Report

By With No comments:

Facebook  launched a smartphone app on Tuesday that will allow consumers to exchange disappearing photos and videos without requiring Facebook accounts, the internet company’s latest effort to develop mobile services beyond its core social network.

The new app, dubbed slingshot, allows users to sign up for the service with their mobile phone number and connect with friends in their phone’s contact list or if they want by finding their Facebook friends.

Photos on slingshot disappears from users phones shortly after they are viewed, reflecting a growing anxiety about privacy in the age of internet social networking.

Facebook release of slingshot comes as a new crop of mobile messaging services gain popularity and threatens to draw younger user away from Facebook’s 1.28 billion user social networks.

To help mitigate the threat from alternative social networks, Facebook is developing a variety of standalone apps and acquiring fast growing rivals. In 2012 it acquired photo sharing service instagram and February it announced plans to acquire messaging app whatsApp for $19 billion.
