Good news for gadgets loving travelers in Europe, the
European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the use of personal
electronic devices (PEDs) during all phases of light.
The regulatory body will publish its guidance by the end of
November, which means European airlines will be able to let their passengers
use tablets, Smartphone’s, e-readers, and other devices from gate to gate.
It follows the US bringing in similar rules last month.
DEVICE NEED TO BE IN FLIGHT SAFE MODE
The EASA stipulates that device must be used “airplane mode”
meaning passengers cannot use voice or text services.
This is a major step in the process of expanding the freedom
to use personal electronic devices on board aircraft without compromise in
safety, said Patrick Ky, Executive director in a press release.
