Web search for child abuse images will be blocked for the
first time by Google and Microsoft after mounting pressure. New software to be
introduced that will automatically block 100,000 “unambiguous” search terms
which lead to illegal content.
Google Boss Eric Schmidt said on Monday that the tech giant
had developed new technology that makes it harder to find child sexual abuse
images on the web.
Google executive chairman said more than 100,000 search
would no longer feature such material in their results writing a Daily Mail.
The changes will be rolled out in more than 150 languages,
“so the impact will be truly global,” Schmidt says
The Daily Mail notes that Microsoft, which operates Bing and
Powers Yahoo will also confirm at a Downing Street summit on internet
pornography later today that it will roll out similar restrictions.

Google had developed technology that allowed illegal videos
to be tagged so all duplicate copies can be removed across the web.
