The world’s first glow in the dark ice cream has been created.

A U.K. ice cream maker has turned everyone’s favorite night time party accessory in to an edible dessert.
Lick Me Delicious owner Charlie Harry Francis enlisted Chinese scientist to churn out glow in the dark ice cream, made from synthesizing the luminescent protein in jellyfish.

The protein reacts with your tongue at a neutral pH and levels trigger the glow, the inventor told U.K. newspaper metro.

According to Mr. Francis: we have been working with a company who have managed to synthesize a protein extracted from jellyfish that causes bioluminescence to occur. We are using a specific form of this protein which reacts with calcium at a neutral pH, causing the protein to glow when it comes into contact with calcium, i.e. when it’s agitatd.ie. When it’s licked”

Since jellyfish protein is expensive, one scoop sells for 140 pounds ($225)

Francis said he plans to make more unconventional ice-cream flavors in the future. Including invisible ice cream and the hottest ice cream in the world.
