For parents thinking about getting their child a cell phone
for safety, the FiLIP Smartwatch and
phone hybrid may stave off that need for a few years.
FiLIP helps parents easily call and keep track of their children,
of course the watch tells time, but it can also pin down a child’s location.
The device is yet to be released and no information as far
as availability or price have been revealed but the intent is to provide safety
and communication options for parents.
The Smartwatch esque Filip will allow parents and kids to
dtay in touch with a single push of a button.
Through an app that works with the device, parents will be
able to track the location of their child call or direct message them, and set
five trusted contacts the kid can communicate with.

Additionally, location centric features…like providing a
notification of the child leaves a designated safe area are available.
The Filip’s simple interface only includes two buttons, one
of which is bright red. In case of emergency, the child can hold down the red
button, prompting the watch to call the first person in its contact list. If no
one answer, the Smartwatch calls the other four assigned contacts. Smartwatch
also sends a notification with the child’s location to the first contact. While
the child waits, the Filip plays a relaxing melody.
“Keeping an Eye in the
Sky on kids FiLIP’s smartwatch has sevral practical elements that will appeal
to parents who want to be in touch with their kids but aren’t yet ready to
equip them with a smartphone”,said Ross Rubi.
Each gadget costs $199.99 and with an AT&T plan, parents
can pay $10 a month for unlimited location data, as well as voice calling.
User can download the FiLIP app for both iPhone and Android.
