and more mobile users seem to be relying on their handheld devices for online
content. And one service that is stand out from the pack is YouTube, according
to Google’s quarterly earnings call.
According to the new data, it looks like handheld up from
the 25 percent seen last years, and the 6 percent seen in 2011.
Former YouTube employee Hunter Walk was quick to celebrate
news, nothing that Goggles success in mobile video has been a long time coming.
The company first invested in bringing its content to Smartphone
and tablets back in 2007. Coding all videos to work for mobile and pushing a
deal with Apple to ensure every iPhone shipped with a YouTube app already
running onit.
According to a tweet form a former Director of consumer
product management at YouTube, the platform has been investing a lot in making
a great mobile experience for the internet and android based devices for a
while now. The service is also working out its presence on iOS as well, after
the company took back the control for the app from apple in 2012.
